Bill Gonser

Company: Faces & Places Smithson Valley Magazine

Bill first lived in San Antonio in the mid 1970’s, while his dad was stationed at Fort Sam Houston.  They lived right outside the 410 Loop and rode bikes on the undeveloped caliche roads, watching the road runners and chasing horntoads.  After that, they moved around the country and lived in Europe for a while.  He finally made it back to Texas for his last few years of high school, in Clear Lake near Houston.

Bill was in the Corps at Texas A&M University and graduated with a BS in Manufacturing Engineering Technology.  He, then, served as an airborne ranger infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division.  As a Captain, he decided to leave the service to explore civilian opportunities.

He transitioned to a role at The Disneyland Resort, in southern California.  During his 12 years working there, he held leadership positions of increasing levels of responsibility in attractions maintenance, reliability engineering, quality assurance, and compliance.  For the last 6 years, he led a team of world-class professionals as the Director of Safety, Health, Environmental Affairs, and Workers’ Compensation.

After leaving Disney, Bill worked for Environmental Specialized Solutions, as the VP of Business Development.  From there, he became the Divisional Director of Operational Compliance for the Florida & Puerto Rico Division of Walmart.  Back in Texas, Bill’s consulting work with Allcat Claims Service, an independent insurance adjusting firm, introduced him to the many commercial uses of drones.  He and some fellow veterans launched a drone services, training, and equipment company.

Bill and his wife, Jenny, live in Spring Branch, with their 3 sons and daughter.  He is active serving on the boards and coaching youth football and lacrosse.  They love our community and have chosen here to put down their roots.  This love inspired he and his wife to create Faces & Places magazine.  They want to tell their neighbors about the amazing people we live with and help our small businesses grow.
